报告摘要:Online social networks such as Facebook and Twitter have played a significant role in information spreading. The availability of unprecedented amounts of digital data has accelerated research on information diffusion. However, the mechanism of information spreading in online social networks remains elusive due to the complexity of social interactions and rapid change of online social networks. Most of dynamical models arising from online social networks only involve ordinary differential equations. In a number of recent works, we propose to use partial differential equation models to study the temporal and spatial characteristics of information diffusion in online social networks. In this talk, I will examine several partial differential equation models for online social networks. Free boundary value problems and bifurcation problems arising from online social networks will be discussed. 

 

王海燕教授简介:

王海燕,男,1985年本科毕业于西北师范大学数学系,1988年毕业于中国海洋大学,获硕士学位并留校任教,1997年在美国密歇根州立大学获得数学博士学位和计算机硕士学位,1997年今先后在Informative Graphics Corporation ArizonaUSA)、美国美国阿肯色中央大学、密歇根州立大学工作。现担任国际数学杂志《Mathematical Biosciences and Engineering 》、《Advances in Differential Equations and Control Processes》、《Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Biomathematics》等副主编。

主要研究方向为应用数学、微分方程和生物数学,在《Journal of Differential Equations》、《Discrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems A》等等重要期刊上发表学术论文50多篇,研究成果得到国内外同行的好评, 研究成果得到国际同行的广泛引用,截止2011年,论文被SCI引用1000多次。2011年获得密歇根州立大学Outstanding Research Award from New College of interdisciplinary arts and sciences
